What is rhino rat snake?

The rhino rat snake, also known as the rhinoceros rat snake, is a species of non-venomous snake native to Southeast Asia. They are known for their distinctive appearance, with a pointed "horn" on their snout that resembles a rhinoceros horn.

These snakes are primarily arboreal, living in the dense forests and woodlands of their native range. They are excellent climbers and are often found in trees, where they hunt for small mammals, birds, and reptiles.

Rhino rat snakes are typically green or yellow in color, with black patterning along their bodies. They can grow to be quite large, with adults reaching lengths of up to 6 feet (1.8 meters).

In captivity, rhino rat snakes are popular among reptile enthusiasts for their striking appearance and relatively docile temperament. However, they do require a large, well-ventilated enclosure with plenty of climbing opportunities to thrive in captivity. They are known to be relatively hardy snakes, but proper care and husbandry are essential for their health and well-being.
